As we gear up for the November 5 general election, residents of Memphis and Shelby County are buzzing with questions and anticipation.   • You must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Shelby County.
  • You need to be at least 18 years old.
  • voting rights must be restored legally.

If you have a valid Tennessee driver’s license or a Safety ID, you can register online through the Tennessee Secretary of State’s website. The process is straightforward:

  1. You’ll need to answer some questions to confirm your eligibility.
  2. Be ready to provide your full legal name, date of birth, social security number, and details of your ID.

It’s a quick and easy way to make sure you’re registered!

Paper Registration

If you prefer the more traditional route, downloading a paper application is also an option. You can find the application on the Shelby County Election Commission‘s website.

Once you’ve filled it out, you have a couple of choices for submission:

  • Hand deliver it to the Shelby County Election Commission office at 980 Nixon Dr.
  • Or you can drop it off at the Downtown location at 157 Poplar Ave., Suite 137.
  • As a last option, you can mail it! Just remember, your application must be postmarked by October 7.

Checking Your Registration Status
