Buc-ee’s Set to Transform West Memphis with New Location and Economic Boost

Exciting Developments Await in West Memphis, Arkansas

West Memphis, Arkansas is buzzing with excitement as news breaks of a brand-new Buc-ee’s location heading to town. This beloved Texas-based chain is slated to open off I-40 near North 7th Street, right next door to Cracker Barrel and a couple of shiny new hotels. And guess what? It’s less than 10 miles from Downtown Memphis! The city council meeting on Tuesday afternoon was filled with anticipation as West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon shared the thrilling news with the community.

Big Wins for Small Towns

West Memphis is the best Memphis,” the mayor proclaimed after securing the deal. And he’s not wrong! The addition of Buc-ee’s is just one part of a larger effort to boost the local economy. In total, these projects are expected to create hundreds of jobs and pour millions of dollars in tax revenue into the city. How amazing is that?

A Game-Changer for Tourism

According to Jim Jackson, the city’s tourism director, having a Buc-ee’s in West Memphis is going to be a game-changer for tourism. “Buc-ee’s will not only serve as a major stop for travelers but will also draw new visitors to our area, showcasing everything West Memphis has to offer,” he said, radiating enthusiasm.

Long Negotiations, Sweet Rewards

After more than 18 months of hard work and negotiations, the city council celebrated their victory on Tuesday. “I mean, this is something we’ve been working on for a long time,” Mayor McClendon commented. It’s clear that this project is more than just a new gas station; it’s a huge win for the people of West Memphis, providing job opportunities and a welcoming space for travelers and locals alike.

More than Gas, Snacks, and Clean Restrooms

What can we expect from Buc-ee’s? Think mouth-watering brisket, those famous beaver nuggets, and oh, let’s not forget the 120 gas pumps! But the real highlight of this development might just be the welcoming atmosphere it promises to create for residents and visitors. Memphian Dajon Quinn, who often fills up in West Memphis, definitely agrees. “I think it’s beautiful,” he said, emphasizing the need for jobs in the area. “People need jobs. They’re hiring. Hey, someone needs a job, they’ve got somewhere to go. It’s beautiful.”

High-Tech Center on the Horizon

But that’s not all! In addition to the Buc-ee’s, the West Memphis City Council has also given the green light to a $3 billion data-processing center. This state-of-the-art facility will be built near the Coca-Cola Company at the corner of Rainer and Bollinger Roads. It will not only provide 50 high-tech jobs but will also utilize an innovative cooling system that uses gray water—treated wastewater—for server cooling. Talk about keeping it green!

A Bright Future Ahead

The momentum in West Memphis is palpable, and the mayor believes it’s a wonderful time to be part of the community. “This is a great time to be in our city,” Mayor McClendon emphasized. “It may be small-town living, but big-city advantages are just five minutes away from Downtown Memphis. I want people to move here, get a great job, and provide for their family.”

Looking Forward to 2026

As the plans move ahead, the new Buc-ee’s is expected to open its doors by 2026, with the groundbreaking set for December. Residents are already counting down the days to welcome this fantastic addition to their town.

Stay tuned, West Memphis—we can’t wait to see how these changes will transform the community and the lives of its residents!
