Car Theft Unites Two Strangers Through a List of Shared Goals
In a strange twist of fate, two men from Memphis, Tennessee, found themselves united over shared experiences of car theft and a list of personal goals. Christopher Henson and Chris Porter, both victims of recent automobile theft incidents, found unanticipated camaraderie amidst their adversity.
Two Distinct Car Thefts
Christopher Henson’s vehicle was stolen only a mile away from where Chris Porter’s car was taken. Henson described discovering broken glass in the vicinity of his last parked vehicle. “I actually saw my back window on the ground and at that point, I already knew somebody had got me for my truck,” he revealed. Porter’s car was stolen outside a business while he was within the said establishment. The Memphis Police were notified of these incidents and placed both cases under investigation.
An Unexpected Discovery
Days after the thefts, Porter’s car was recovered due to an alert about a suspicious vehicle parked at Edith Avenue. On inspecting the vehicle, police verified it was indeed Porter’s car, and handed back the possession to him. However, they discovered an unfamiliar backpack inside the car – a backpack belonging to Henson.
Henson’s List of Goals
Inside Henson’s backpack, police found business cards along with a notebook. This notebook contained a list of goals written by Henson. These goals ranged from becoming a better father and leader, to achieving greatness. He commented, “Everything starts off with a goal, with a dream. A dream without action is nothing at all. So, basically, I learned to write it down, get it on paper, and basically make it come to life.”
A Silver Lining amid Troubles
The backpack was returned to Henson by Porter. Despite still being without his stolen vehicle, Henson expressed his gratitude for having recovered his list of goals and for the fact that his son was not in the vehicle at the time of theft. “Today, I’m feeling grateful, we’re one step closer. It’s not my truck, but I’m basically like say a prayer, I hope it comes,” he commented.
Standing United
Despite their unfortunate circumstances, Henson and Porter have taken their experiences as an opportunity to inspire others in Memphis. As of now, the police have not made any arrests related to either theft. Meanwhile, the victims continue to hope for the safe return of their vehicles and for a safer Memphis.
In the face of adversity, these two men have found common ground where they least expected it, creating a shared bond through their mutual loss. Their hopeful spirit serves as an invitation for the city of Memphis inhabitants to stand with them and draw positivity amid the daunting times in life. Their story is a testament to the resilience, hope, and unity that is present in the human spirit.
