Local on Main Street Gets a Makeover in Downtown Memphis
Great news for food and drink lovers in Downtown Memphis! Local on Main Street, the beloved bar located at 95 S. Main St., has recently undergone some exciting changes. Owner Tim Quinn has taken the bold step of refreshing the space with a rebrand that promises to give patrons a delightful experience. After its temporary closure on October 1, the bar reopened just one week later, on October 8, and is ready to welcome back its loyal customers.
What’s New at Local?
When you walk through the door, you’ll be greeted by a fresh look and, of course, a new menu. Quinn shared that the refresh was needed, stating, “We just needed to freshen it up, so we figured we’d give it some new furniture, a new paint job and a new menu.” The changes aren’t just aesthetic; they also include a culinary twist that incorporates New Orleans-inspired cuisine—something that hasn’t been featured here before!
The revamped menu includes returning favorites as well as mouthwatering new items. For instance, the standout dish Bayou Wings are slow-cooked in the bar’s new house gumbo before hitting the grill, adding a smoky Cajun twist. Other delicious new offerings include Gumbo Loaded Fries, Creole Deviled Eggs, and the whimsically named “Mane St” Loaded Potatoes. Don’t forget to save room for dessert; their bread pudding served with ice cream promises to be a satisfying finish!
A Need for Local NOLA Flavor
Quinn noted that the bar’s menu has seen many versions over the years, but Bayou flavors have never made an appearance until now. This change fills a gap in Downtown Memphis, as the area has been missing a touch of New Orleans flair since the relocation of Ben Yay’s earlier in September.
Something Else to Look Forward To
But wait, there’s more! To add to the neighborhood’s offerings, The Other Side, a boutique cannabis and CBD dispensary, will be opening right downstairs from the bar. This shop will provide a variety of products, including flower, vapes, prerolls, and edibles. Excitingly, some of these infused edibles will eventually be available for purchase in the bar upstairs, allowing for a truly unique dining experience.
Re-Opening Celebration
Mark your calendars! Local is throwing a grand re-opening party on Friday, October 18, inviting both familiar faces and first-time visitors to come check out the new vibe. For the time being, the establishment is serving beer and food only, but it promises the same relaxing ambiance perfect for casual hangouts, whether during the day or after work.
“Hopefully, people enjoy the changes,” Quinn added, welcoming patrons to embrace the new and improved experience of Local on Main Street.
