Hey Memphis! If you haven’t cast your ballot yet, time is ticking! Early voting for the upcoming November 5 election kicked off on October 16 and will wrap up this week on Thursday, October 31. So if you want to avoid the lines on Election Day, now is the perfect time to get your vote in!
Anyone eligible to vote in the presidential primary and county primaries can participate in early voting. To be eligible, you must reside in Shelby County and have a valid voter registration. Not sure if you’re registered? You can easily check your status by visiting the Tennessee Secretary of State website.
Early voting locations are spread across our vibrant city, and they are open from Monday to Saturday. During the weekdays, you can cast your vote from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, the hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. It’s a great chance to fit voting into your schedule without the rush of Election Day.
For exact locations of all the early voting spots in Shelby County, head over to the Shelby County Election Commission website. They have all the details to make sure you find the most convenient spot for you.
As of October 23, over 129,149 Shelby County residents have already made their voices heard by casting their votes! This number may seem low compared to the previous cycle, where during the first week of early voting in 2020, a whopping 198,792 votes were cast. But don’t fret too much—Shelby County is still leading all Tennessee counties in voter turnout!
Across the entire state, approximately 1,143,215 voters have participated in early voting, which makes up about 23.67% of the expected turnout for Tennessee. However, this reflects a slight dip of 8.33% from the same period in 2020, when total votes for the first week hit 1,247,048.
If you have any burning questions about the November 5 General Election, you’re in luck! So, Memphis, let’s get out there and make our voices heard! With just a few days left of early voting, there’s no time like the present to grab a friend, hit the polls, and embrace the power of democracy. Every vote truly matters!
