Girl Scout Cookie Season Excitement in Memphis!

It’s that time of year again, folks! Girl Scout Cookie Season has officially kicked off in Memphis, and cookie fanatics are ready to dive into their favorite sweet treats. You know the ones—those delicious Thin Mints, crunchy Samoas, and even the *soon-to-be-retired* S’mores. This year promises to be extra special, but there’s a little bittersweet note as one of the top sellers, an 11-year-old Girl Scout named Genesis Bonner, is sitting this one out due to illness. Sadly, she’s battling bronchitis and couldn’t join her fellow scouts this weekend.

A Troop Dedicated to Community

While Genesis is at home resting, her troop, Girl Scout Troop 13366, is busy gathering cookie orders to provide joy to customers all over Memphis. These dedicated Scouts held their meetings at Crosstown Concourse, which has become a hub for their cookie-selling operations as they prepare for the season. On February 8, Preauna Richardson and her fellow scouts were all smiles as they organized and delivered cookie orders to eager supporters.

Outstanding Achievements from Last Year

For those who might not know, 2024 was a phenomenal year for Genesis Bonner. She shot to fame by being the top seller of cookies in the Greater Memphis area with an astounding total of 6,737 boxes sold! That’s right—over 500 boxes more than the runner-up, Jasmine Tolbert, who managed to sell 6,206 boxes. Simply incredible! Genesis truly showcased her talent and determination, and everyone in Memphis couldn’t be prouder.

Strong Community Spirit

The Greater Memphis area boasts about 2,500 Girl Scouts who are part of 188 different troops. Together, they encourage a strong spirit of community and teamwork while teaching invaluable skills in organization and leadership—something that reflects in their impressive cookie-selling operations. The way the local Girl Scouts execute their delivery-to-customer process is reminiscent of FedEx’s efficiency, making it a well-orchestrated event that adds to the excitement of the season.

Big Sales Ahead

The Girl Scouts Heart of the South have high hopes for this year’s cookie season, projecting an incredible sales goal of almost *1.5 million boxes* in the Memphis area alone. These cookies will be a delightful treat for everyone, covering the cookie season that typically runs from January to April. The much-anticipated booth sales are set to begin on February 22 and will help add to a staggering total of around 1,419,648 boxes sold!

Get Ready for Your Favorites

For those looking to snag their favorite flavors, mark your calendars! You can look forward to classics like the oh-so-popular Thin Mints and the chewy goodness of Samoas. But keep in mind, fans might want to enjoy the *S’mores* and *Toast-Yay* flavors one last time, as they are coming to the *end of their run*. This year’s cookie lineup promises to entice even the most devoted cookie lovers!

Community Engagement and Support

Cookie season isn’t just about the cookies; it’s a time to rally together as a community to support these bright young leaders. The Girl Scouts teach girls valuable lessons in business ethics, teamwork, and the importance of giving back. Each purchase goes towards empowering these young women as they navigate their development into future leaders.

So, whether you’re a die-hard Thin Mint fan or you have a soft spot for the creamy Samoas, get ready. It’s time to grab a box (or two) of those delicious Girl Scout Cookies and support a wonderful cause!
