Halloween Attraction in Memphis Combines Fun and Fundraising for St. Jude

Halloween Fun with a Purpose in Memphis

Memphis, Tenn. — With Halloween right around the corner, many people are busy planning their spooktacular celebrations. But if you’re looking for a way to get into the spooky spirit while also helping out a good cause, look no further than Richard Winkles’ Haunted Yard! This festive attraction is part of a larger national initiative called “Skeletons for St. Jude.”

A Spooky Begining

Richard Winkles, the mastermind behind this haunted yard, had a vision to combine his love for Halloween with a heartfelt way to give back. Early in August, he began cranking up his display, and as Halloween approaches, he has been adding more frightening features to ensure everyone who visits gets their fill of thrills.

“I found this group that does Skeletons for St. Jude, and we had all these props in my yard,” Winkles shared. “I was like, ‘I want to help out a good cause.'” His dedication to the project has led to an impressive investment of around $5,000 into his haunting display!

Making It Easy to Give

Winkles has made sure that visitors can easily contribute to St. Jude during their visit. Throughout the Haunted Yard, you’ll find several locations where guests can scan a QR code to make their donations. What’s even better is that you’ll receive a receipt via email, giving you that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you helped support a great cause while enjoying a fun night out.

Community Support

Winkles’ neighbors have taken notice of the growing attraction and have expressed their admiration for his efforts. One local resident, David Omeliantschu, praised the initiative, saying, “I think it’s awesome. It’s obviously raising money for St. Jude, which is a great, great cause. So I think it’s incredible.” It’s heartwarming to see how a simple idea has transformed into a community-wide attraction!

Setting Ambitious Goals

Winkles’ vision doesn’t stop at simply hosting a haunted house for Halloween. His goal is ambitious yet touching: to raise $20,000 over the next five years specifically for Skeletons for St. Jude. It’s a testament to his dedication and commitment to helping those in need, all while providing a thrilling experience for families and friends.

When to Visit

If you’re in the Memphis area, you won’t want to miss out on this frightful experience. The haunted yard is located on Hill Gail Drive and is open nightly from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.. Bring the kids, grab your friends, and make it a part of your Halloween festivities this year! Not only will you encounter some wildly creepy decorations and props, but you’ll also be contributing to a noble cause that supports children battling health challenges.

A Halloween Like No Other

So, as Halloween draws nearer, remember that you can get your scare on and make a difference at the same time by visiting Richard Winkles’ Haunted Yard. It just goes to show that Halloween can be more than just costumes and candy. It’s also an opportunity to bring joy and support to those who need it most. Happy Haunting, Memphis!
