The trouble started when Thompson, along with two accomplices in a black Toyota Corolla, approached the victims while seemingly making casual conversation.

It might sound unbelievable, but amidst the flirtation, one of the men in the car suddenly displayed a weapon and demanded the women’s belongings. After snatching the purse, Thompson and his crew speeded off in their vehicle. Thankfully, law enforcement acted swiftly, and the victim was later able to identify Thompson during a police lineup, bringing some solace in the aftermath of the frightening experience.

Juvenile Crime Hits a New Low

Just ten days later, on March 12, 2025, another alarming incident involving juveniles came to light. This time, a group of four young men, including three 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old, found themselves caught in an armed robbery while trying to make a car purchase through Facebook Marketplace.

It’s disheartening to learn that these young individuals lured their unsuspecting victims to an abandoned residence, where they were robbed of their car keys and cash. The crime escalated into a dangerous high-speed chase when the police managed to locate the stolen car on Highway 385. Unfortunately, the driver lost control, crashing into a tree in the 2800 block of Mendenhall.

All four suspects attempted to flee on foot but were promptly apprehended by the quick-thinking officers on the scene. They now face serious charges, including especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
