Magnolia Bend Grille Opens in Nesbit, Mississippi Offering Elevated Southern Cuisine with a Cajun Twist

Magnolia Bend Grille Brings A Fresh Taste to Nesbit, Mississippi

Located in the charming town of Nesbit, Mississippi, the latest culinary gem is making waves: Magnolia Bend Grille. This delightful eatery, currently in its soft opening phase, promises to serve up a delicious blend of elevated Southern fare with a distinctive Cajun twist. This fresh concept comes from the well-known restaurateur, Michael Patrick, who has an impressive background in the local dining scene.

A Journey Back to Restaurant Ownership

After a brief stint working at The Capital Grille, Michael Patrick has made a joyous return to his roots. He previously owned the beloved Rizzo’s restaurant downtown, which he closed last year. “I missed it at the same time,” he shared, reflecting on the transition from owner to employee. “But it was easier. There was a certain comfort.” And who wouldn’t feel a sense of relief after trading the pressures of ownership for a more steady role?

Cooking Up Something New in Southaven

Michael and his wife, Angel, made the move from Memphis to nearby Southaven, seeking a fresh start and a new opportunity. The nagging commute into Memphis and the vibes of the city wearing on him led to this change. As luck would have it, they discovered that the owners of Bonne Terre, known for their events and weddings, were looking for someone to take the reins of their restaurant space, previously known as BT Prime Steakhouse.

Creating a Homey Atmosphere with a Touch of Elegance

When asked about the ownership of the restaurant, Patrick mentioned, “They’re not really restaurant people.” The Houstons, who also run an ironworks company, bought the venue knowing it housed a restaurant but are now looking to hand things over to someone with culinary passion, like Michael. “I won’t say it’s second nature, but it’s very much like putting on an old pair of shoes,” he remarked, reflecting on his experience in the industry. “I’ve done this. I can do this.”

Overcoming Challenges for a New Beginning

Despite his enthusiasm, getting the old BT Prime Steakhouse space ready for Magnolia Bend Grille hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Patrick and Angel faced some unexpected hurdles, including issues with the fire suppression system and electrical systems needing an overhaul to meet safety codes. Plus, they had to jump through the usual hoops to apply for a liquor license! But with hard work and determination, they’ve managed to transform the space into something truly special.

A Culinary Adventure Awaits

With a seating capacity of 92 and a team of 15 skilled staff members, Magnolia Bend Grille is ready to welcome guests. Expect an enticing menu featuring familiar favorites from Rizzo’s, including the coveted lobster pronto pups and mouthwatering blueberry white chocolate bread pudding. Other delectable offerings include shrimp and grits swimming in a smoked tomato broth, blackened snapper topped with a rich crawfish cream sauce, and even a delightful bacon tasting. Whether it’s a cozy dinner or a celebratory meal, there’s a dish for every palate!

Making Memories in a Casual Setting

Patrick is also keen to carve out a niche for Magnolia Bend as a go-to spot for weddings at Bonne Terre. With around 80 weddings hosted annually, he hopes to cater to the rehearsal dinners and provide meals for guests the following day. Describing his vision for Magnolia Bend, Patrick explains it as a place for “casual fine dining.” “You can come in a pair of blue jeans or a three-piece suit and get the same service and still feel the same level of comfortableness,” he lovingly emphasized, adding that his style is all about being unpretentious and approachable.

As the buzz around Magnolia Bend Grille continues to grow, it’s clear that this welcoming establishment is set to become a beloved addition to the Nesbit dining landscape. Whether you’re celebrating special occasions or just in the mood for a comforting meal, Michael and Angel Patrick have created a fantastic new place to eat and enjoy what Southern cuisine has to offer!
