Arts Agenda: Memorial Day Weekend Filled with Exciting Events in Memphis

Free Family Night at The Grove

The Grove at Germantown Performing Arts Center is inviting everyone to its Free Family Night on Thursday, May 22 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Celebrity guests include the Chinese Connection Dub Embassy who will light up the evening with their electrifying performances. This event promises to be a fun-filled soiree for families, offering both entertainment as well as a great platform to interact and engage with one another.

Evening Theatre Performance

On Friday, May 23, at 7:30 PM, theatre enthusiasts are in for a treat as Theatre Works on The Square brings the riveting play “Baby Daddy Drama.” The theatre invites all to witness a compelling work of drama that is sure to keep its audience at the edge of their seats from start to finish.

Jewelry Creation Workshop

For those who love creativity and crafting, the Metal Museum is hosting a Beginning Jewelry Creation workshop on Saturday, May 24, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Attendees will get the opportunity to learn about jewelry making from local artists and enjoy a hands-on experience creating their own masterpieces.

UrbanArt Commission Exhibition Opening

Also on Saturday, May 24, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the UrbanArt Commission invites all to the opening reception of the exhibition “Between Heaven and Earth, We Build Our Home”. The show features artwork celebrating a relationship between nature and architecture and providing an immersive visual experience for attendees.

Sunset Symphony Concert

Rounding off the weekend is the much-anticipated Sunset Symphony on Sunday, May 25. The pre-party, hosted at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, acts as an excellent precursor to the grand symphony held in the enchanting ambiance of the Overton Park Shell from 7:30 PM to 9:45 PM.
