Art Gilliam, president of Gilliam Communications Inc., the parent company of WLOK Radio, was bestowed with the 2024 Arthur S. Holmon Lifetime Achievement Award by the Black Student Association at the University of Memphis. This coveted annual award is a tribute to a Memphian who functions as a guiding light for the city’s Black community, motivating students to gear up for leadership roles.
The Memphis Bar Foundation, the magnanimous section of the Memphis Bar Association, chose Vincent Miraglia as its 2024 board president. With over 20 years of experience spanning corporate law, litigation, sustainability, and technology law, Miraglia will bring a rich wealth of expertise to his new role. He has been a part of the board since 2019 and recently held the position of vice president.
The Joint Chiropractic recently increased its strength by welcoming two new doctors – George Freeman and Matthew Sheppard. Freeman, a graduate of Logan Chiropractic University, specializes in the Webster technique and extremities. On the other hand, Sheppard is skilled in the Activator, Cox Flex, and Diversified chiropractic techniques.
The Institute for Public Service Reporting Memphis intern Redding Jackson scored a notable 12th position among 66 entries in the 2024 William Randolph Hearst college audio journalism contest. Jackson’s achievement is praiseworthy as she surpassed entries from prestigious schools across the nation. Jackson is currently majoring in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Memphis.
The Soulsville Foundation welcomed newcomer Mary Helen Randall as the new Director of Communications and transitioned long-standing employee Tim Sampson to his new role as Director of Special Projects. Additionally, seasoned attorney and Senior Counsel at ALSAC, Kelly Rayne, was added to the foundation’s board.
The Bartlett Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated the establishment of several new businesses, marking an encouraging start for ventures such as Hometown Capital Group, Simply Graceful Event Venue, Lotus Thai Restaurant, Bluff City Pickleball, Petali Florist, Quality Beginnings Country Campus, and Tate Computer Systems Inc.
