Memphis Couple Faces Gun Threat in Unbelievable Road Rage Incident at Gas Station

Memphis Couple Terrified After Road Rage Incident at Gas Station

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It was supposed to be just another early morning in Northeast Memphis for a couple filling up their car at an Exxon station. However, they found themselves caught in a terrifying situation that they couldn’t have ever anticipated. The couple, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared their harrowing experience following a fender-bender that escalated into something much more dangerous.

The couple explained that they were backing out of their parking spot in the 5100 block of Summer Avenue when they accidentally bumped into a parked black Chevrolet Tahoe. Fortunately, there was no visible damage to either vehicle, and they were eager to exchange information to resolve the situation amicably. However, things took a drastic turn when a passenger abruptly jumped out of the Tahoe, brandishing a weapon.

“He Immediately Pulled a Gun”

The woman recounted the chaotic scene, stating, “He had his gun out immediately. The driver was still in the store.” She recalled that her fiancé had asked the man to put the gun away, hoping to de-escalate the situation. But it quickly became clear that the suspect was intoxicated and had no interest in listening to their explanation. “He lifted the gun and shot through the back driver’s side window,” she said, describing the horrific moment.

The couples’ heart raced as the bullet ricocheted off the back seat and the center console. “I looked and said, ‘oh my God, he shot the window’. I told my fiancé to go, go, go, go!” Despite the adrenaline pumping through their veins, danger was not yet averted. The gunman proceeded to shove the gun in her fiancé’s face, threatening them further by saying, “Okay, now we are even.”

A Close Call

The woman expressed deep concern for her fiancé’s safety. “He was sitting in the driver’s seat, and that bullet could have easily struck him. They call it an aggravated assault. I think it’s a little more than that. He didn’t know if someone was in my back seat or not. I have tinted windows,” she explained. “And he doesn’t know where a bullet will go.”

After the terrifying encounter, the couple contacted the police. Officers arrived and recovered a 9mm shell casing from the scene. They were hopeful that security footage would assist in capturing the suspects. However, two weeks have passed, and the couple remains frustrated that no arrests have been made.

The Search for Suspects Continues

“They told me pretty much today that because I don’t know who did it, there is nothing they can do about it. I don’t know how when there are cameras,” the woman lamented, referring to a nearby SkyCop camera that might have recorded the incident. While police have confirmed that they are searching for two men and a woman who were in the black Tahoe, the lack of progress has left the couple feeling anxious.
