Memphis, Tenn.: Local authorities in Memphis have issued a call for community assistance after two men successfully carried out a daylight robbery at a Cricket Wireless store last March. Today, Memphis Police (MPD) released descriptions and initial findings about the crime.
The incident took place on March 22nd in a Cricket Wireless store located at 4618 Winchester Road. The MPD shared that the suspects entered the store a little after noon, appearing as ordinary patrons. One of the thieves then inquired about various items’ prices before moving behind the store counter, where he seized a number of portable speakers.
The same suspect told an employee not to touch him as he allegedly possessed a weapon. Yet, the supposed firearm was not revealed during the incident. The pair then bolted from the store, disappearing from the scene.
The MPD stated that they are looking for two male suspects with distinct descriptions. The first suspect was described as having a slim build and was last seen in light stone-washed jeans, a black hat, a plaid button-down shirt, and black tennis shoes. He was also carrying a backpack at the time of the incident.
The second suspect is described as another thin individual, spotted wearing a black zipper-up hooded jacket, dark jeans, black and white shoes, and sporting locs hairstyle. Both suspects remain at large as of now.
Memphis Police are calling on the community to report any information regarding the identities or whereabouts of the two suspects. Anyone with knowledge relating to the case should contact Crime Stoppers at their hotline, (901) 528-CASH.
This incident serves as a reminder that even within the seeming safety of day-to-day activities, crimes can still occur. Authorities continue to stress the importance of remaining vigilant and promptly reporting anything out of the ordinary to the police. Increased community cooperation can significantly aid in crime prevention and help maintain public safety.
