Greetings, Memphis! It’s that time of the week where we take a moment to applaud some of our talented girls from high school sports who have been making waves on the court and the field. From volleyball victories to stunning performances in soccer, let’s dive into the highlights and see who’s been lighting it up!
This week, we saw some exhilarating volleyball matches with our local stars rising to the occasion. First up, we have Ava Becker from Lewisburg, who had a remarkable game against Hernando. She racked up 15 kills and 15 digs in a nail-biting five-set victory that ended with a score of 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 16-25, 15-10. Talk about a vital player!
At Lakeland Prep, Ella Burd also showed us what determination looks like, achieving 33 digs and hitting five aces in a rollercoaster win over Tipton-Rosemark Academy, with the final score being 23-25, 25-18, 27-29, 25-21, 17-15. Just think about the excitement of that match!
Then we have Addy Harris from Arlington, who was a standout, scoring 21 kills against Bartlett and an impressive 22 kills and 21 digs in a two-match performance against Collierville. She kept her team competitive! Meanwhile, Lucy Huffman from St. Agnes surely enjoyed her match against St. Mary’s, notching 30 kills and 19 digs leading to another victory for her squad.
In Covington, Ava McCalla helped her team tremendously with 10 kills, 18 digs, and six aces in their victory against Munford. Similarly, Ashley Price from St. Benedict showcased her incredible skills by putting up 18 kills and 15 digs in a win over Brighton. She followed that up with 16 kills in another victorious match against West Memphis. It’s safe to say she’s been on fire!
Lastly in volleyball, Sophie Rush from Lausanne showed off her prowess on the field by scoring four goals while helping her team to a whopping 7-0 victory over Westminster Academy.
In soccer, Quinn Thurman of Northpoint was a star, making her presence felt with 15 kills and 18 digs, contributing to a sweet victory of 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 against Lewisburg.
On a slightly different note, let’s not forget our outstanding golfers like Claire Todd from ECS. She dazzled everyone by capturing medalist honors with an amazing score of 65 at the TSSAA Division II-A West Region Tournament, helping her team clinch the championship with a score of 140. Impressive, right?
Switching gears to volleyball’s impact off the court, Dallas White from Lake Cormorant was nothing short of amazing, racking up 32 assists in a match that ended 25-16, 25-8, 25-16 against Center Hill! Additionally, she had a solid overall performance with 14 kills, 6 aces, 106 assists, and 21 digs over five matches during her team’s shining moment at the Desoto County tournament.
