Memphis Man Captured After Violent Assault on Ex-Girlfriend

Memphis Man Captured After Ten Days on the Run

In the bustling city of Memphis, Tennessee, a man wanted for a serious crime has finally been apprehended after a dramatic ten-day search. Antonio Pewitte, a 37-year-old from Humboldt, was taken into custody on Tuesday by U.S. Marshals, who had been closing in on him after he allegedly committed an assault against his ex-girlfriend.

Details of the Incident

The disturbing events surrounding Pewitte began on October 19 when police were called to the scene of an alarming incident at his ex-girlfriend’s workplace. Authorities say that Pewitte waited outside for her to arrive. As she walked into the building, he is reported to have approached her unexpectedly from behind and allegedly stabbed her multiple times in the face and head with a knife.

Our hearts certainly go out to the victim of this frightening attack! It’s a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk even in familiar settings. The Bells Police Department wasted no time in taking the allegations seriously, launching an investigation into the shocking incident that left his ex-girlfriend in a precarious condition.

Pursuit by U.S. Marshals

Given the severity of the allegations, the U.S. Marshals Service sprang into action quickly. They called upon their Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Pewitte. This task force is known for its diligence in tracking down individuals accused of violent crimes, and they made it a priority to find Pewitte as soon as they learned he was on the run.

On Tuesday morning, intelligence gathered by the U.S. Marshals indicated that Pewitte was in the Memphis area. With their investigative instincts kicking in, they reached out to the Memphis Police Department and the Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension teams for assistance. Working hand in hand, they identified a residence in the 2200 block of Falling Oak Way as the possible location of Pewitte.

A Safe Capture

The operation came to a peaceful conclusion when the teams successfully located Pewitte at the residence. It’s clear that the coordinated efforts paid off, as the U.S. Marshals were able to safely take him into custody without any further escalation or harm. This is a testament to their commitment to serving and protecting the community, making Memphis a safer place.

After his capture, Pewitte was taken to the Bells Police Department, where he will likely face serious charges concerning the attempted first-degree murder of his former partner. It’s crucial for our community to stay informed about such incidents, and it’s always best to remain vigilant and aware of our surroundings, particularly in our day-to-day lives.

Moving Forward

This case emphasizes the importance of swift action from law enforcement in situations of domestic violence. It also shines a light on the ongoing challenges that many face when dealing with troubled relationships. As the investigation continues, there will likely be further updates regarding Pewitte and the well-being of his ex-girlfriend, and we hope she has the support she needs for a full recovery.

The community is thankful for the U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement for their timely response to a potentially devastating situation. As citizens of Memphis, it’s a reminder that our safety is a shared responsibility and that people are always ready to help when it matters most.

Stay informed and stay safe, Memphis!
