Memphis Prepares for Its First-Ever Pizza Festival!
Get ready, Memphis! This Saturday, September 21, a mouth-watering extravaganza is headed your way at Agricenter International. The Inaugural Memphis Pizza Festival promises to be a delightful day for pizza enthusiasts and families alike. With over 20 of the best local pizza makers showcasing what’s sure to be the largest assortment of pizzas ever gathered in the Bluff City, you’re in for a real treat.
What to Expect
Whether you crave a full pie or just want to grab a few slices, the festival will have you covered. Expect a dizzying variety of delicious pizza options, alongside other fun pizza-related goodies. Not only will there be plenty of tasting opportunities, but you can also dive into interactive activities and engaging panel discussions. This event is designed to be an all-ages experience, ensuring everyone in the family can come and enjoy.
Live Music to Spice Up the Day
The festival isn’t just about eating. There’s an exciting lineup of live music featuring talented artists with roots in Oxford. Take the stage, for instance, Karen Brown, an Oxford native turned Memphis resident. “I’ve been excited about it,” she shared, adding, “Me and my band are all excited about it. And I like that it’s a family event too, and that anybody can come.” After starting her singing career at the tender age of 4, Brown has nurtured her passion for music and is set to bring her vibrant energy to the festival.
Joining her will be Davis Coen, a singer-guitarist with quite a resume. He’s not only released 10 albums, but he also has experience performing internationally and at numerous U.S. blues festivals. Coen will perform with the Memphis-based Just Groovin’ Experience, ensuring the grooves keep coming all day long.
Adding to the musical experience, Randy Ferguson will take the stage with his band, Peavine Railroad, featuring the incredibly talented Trenton Ayers on guitar. This group has been hard at work in the studio, preparing to release their debut album, Long Train to Memphis.
Meet the Organizer
The heart behind this amazing event is Darryl Parker, who’s no stranger to Memphis’s music and food scene. As the organizer of the Memphis Pizza Festival, Parker brings over a decade of experience from running the Oxford Blues Fest and has a long-standing commitment to supporting north Mississippi artists. “As the organizer of the Memphis Pizza Festival, I’m passionate about creating an experience where every slice brings joy, connection, and a taste of what makes Memphis special,” he said with enthusiasm.
Plan Ahead!
Make sure to mark your calendars and bring your appetite! The festival will not only celebrate pizza but also foster community connections and support local artisans. Whether you’re a lifelong Memphian or just visiting our vibrant city, the festival promises to be a day of delicious fun.
