Memphis Rap Legend Shares Heartfelt Message from the Pulpit

In the vibrant city of Memphis, a familiar voice has emerged from an unexpected place. The legendary rapper Project Pat, known for his catchy beats and raw lyrics, recently found himself at the center of a little internet buzz after making a memorable appearance at an Arkansas church. While some might think he’s trading in his microphone for a pastor’s collar, he’s here to set the record straight and tell us what really went down.

Clarifying the Viral Rumor

You might have heard some chatter online claiming that Project Pat has taken up the role of an official pastor. In an exclusive chat, he was quick to laugh it off, saying, “I can’t lie, brother that wasn’t real news. That was just the Internet.” He playfully added, “I didn’t announce that. I’ll take it if that’s what they want to give me. It’s not a bad title.” So, what’s the scoop? According to Pat, while he isn’t a pastor in the traditional sense, he is definitely out there spreading a message of love and faith.

Sharing the Good Word

During his visit to Keiser Chapel Church in Keiser, Arkansas, Pat talked about a subject that’s very close to his heart: God. He may not wear the title of pastor, but he isn’t shy about calling himself a preacher. “If they want to say I’m preaching, that’s fine. I’m talking about God, so I am preaching. I’m never gonna say I’m not preaching. I am preaching,” he explains enthusiastically.

For years now, the rapper has used his platform to reach out to underserved communities, particularly through his Go Foundation. This nonprofit has led him to prisons and jails across the nation, sharing messages of redemption and hope. “We’ve been doing this for years; we started doing it in 2021,” he said. The best part? “The best part about it is everybody reached out to us. We never reached out.” Pat has big plans coming up too, including visits to Rikers Island and San Quentin later this year.

Life Lessons and Humility

During the interview, Pat also touched on his personal faith journey, connecting his life experiences to teachings from the Bible. He raised a critical point about humility and the importance of compassion. “You know, God loves us so much that even in the process of doing crimes, doing drugs, he still provides oxygen for us to breathe,” he said. It’s a powerful reminder that no matter our mistakes, there’s always a chance for redemption. “In the end, think about it. No one’s gonna have an excuse. You can never say God doesn’t love you,” he added.

Still the Rapper

Despite his growing influence in faith-based circles, Project Pat is still very much invested in his music career. He revealed that he’s been exploring gospel-inspired music and is open to collaborations with Christian artists. “My thing is I do music. I have songs with Christian artists already,” he noted. “One thing we’re going to do is talk about the goodness and the love of God; that’s first and foremost.”

Continuing His Mission

Locally, Pat isn’t slowing down. His prison ministry, Breakin’ Baggs, makes weekly visits to inmates at 201 Poplar every Thursday. This commitment underscores his passion for reaching out, sharing hope, and spreading love wherever he can.

Project Pat is not just a rapper; he’s a beacon of hope, reminding us all of the power of faith and community. As he continues his journey, both in music and ministry, one things for sure: he’s a man with a mission, and he’s just getting started.
