Sponsor Our ArticlesHey there, Memphis! It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster here lately, with some serious news hitting the streets. Let’s dive into what’s been happening in our vibrant city.
Back on August 21, just as the early morning hours rolled around, a violent shooting occurred at the Horn Lake Express located at 3135 New Horn Lake Road. The Memphis Police Department (MPD) received a call and rushed to the scene shortly before 2 a.m. What they found was truly concerning: a man lying in the middle of the store, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
The victim was quickly transported to Methodist University before being moved to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. This incident shook the community, leaving many in shock and disbelief.
As investigators started piecing together the events of that night, they turned to video footage from the store. What they discovered was alarming. On August 24, they reviewed footage that seemed to show a young man, now identified as 20-year-old Keshawn Taylor, having a tense conversation with the victim inside the store.
In the video, Taylor can be seen pulling out a gun and pointing it right at the victim’s chest. When the victim pushed the gun away, things escalated quickly. Just like that, Taylor shot the victim at point-blank range. Yikes! This chilling moment revealed the shocking nature of the incident.
After firing the shots, Taylor reportedly dashed out of the store, trying to hop into a car with another man. Unfortunately for him, his getaway plan didn’t quite work as he had hoped. The man inside that car faced unrelated warrants and was taken into custody on August 30.
During questioning, this man revealed that he had witnessed the shooting and heard the troubling conversation just before it took place. This key testimony provided critical information that pointed investigators towards Taylor.
Fast forward to October 2, and the brave victim is still fighting for his life. Reports indicate that he has been on a ventilator since that fateful night in August, and thankfully, he is still pushing through. Remarkably, he was able to identify Taylor as the man who inflicted such harm on him.
Additional updates reveal that the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, narrowly missing his heart. Can you imagine the terror he must have felt during that horrific experience? It’s a miracle he’s still here with us, and our hearts go out to him as he reclaims his strength.
With Keshawn Taylor now arrested and facing serious charges, the community is left wondering about the larger implications of this incident. As we await further legal proceedings, discussions around community safety and violence continue to be at the forefront of many conversations.
So, there you have it, Memphis. A troubling story that has rocked our community, but it’s also a reminder of resilience and the importance of coming together during tough times. Stay safe out there, and let’s keep supporting one another!
