Spring Kicks Off Jam-Packed Season of Memphis Events
Spring Season starts with a Bang in Memphis
As the season changes, so does the city of Memphis welcome the start of spring with its annual event season full of fun and excitement. Being a tradition known to many, the people of Memphis shine best when it’s warmer, which is reflected in the vast list of events lined up for them.
Spring-long events
The sports season kicks off in Memphis with The Memphis Grizzlies playing a part of their season into the spring, and the postseason continues through June. Memphis 901 FC‘s season continues until October,while Football starts on March 31 in Houston, Texas. The season for The Memphis Redbirds commence on March 29.
Apart from sports, art admirers can enjoy a mix of outdoors and arts at The Dixon Gallery open five days a week, offering a visual treat of blooming flowers across the entire season.
The Orion Free Concert Series at the Overton Park Shell, although, not fully announced yet, will start its concerts towards the end of May or early June, simply perfect to enjoy the spring weather.
March Events in Memphis
Memphis Black Restaurant Week returns for the ninth year in March. The WinterJam, a night of worship with a concert is another highlight in March, along with the Jurassic Quest, a three-days event featuring life-size dinosaurs, rides, skeletons and fossils for guests. The month also features “One Hallelujah” tour and Casa Palooza Tequila Festival.
April Events in Memphis
WICKED, the popular Broadway musical, is making a stop from April 3-21. Other notable events include the Memphis Tattoo Festival, Grind City Music Festival, Memphis Comedy Festival and the Sista Strut 3k Breast Cancer Walk. Memphis Fairytale Ball, and the famous Harlem Globetrotters basketball game are slotted in mid-April. The World Championship Hot Wing Contest & Festival is lined up for April 20.
May Events in Memphis
Mempho Presents, the new Riverbeat Music Festival, will run from May 3 to 5. A plethora of other events such as World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, SmokeSlam: World’s Ultimate BBQ Showdown, Dreamfest Weekend, Memphis Vegfest, and the Great American River Run will heighten the city’s vibrancy. The Memphis Italian Festival and Shrek the Musical will signal the end of the month.
June Events in Memphis
The festivities begin at the end of May with Memphis Pride Fest and will continue until June 2. IPA & Sour Fest, Margarita Festival, Germantown Charity Horse Show, Anime Blues Con, Memphis Water Lantern Festival, Juneteenth Shop Black Festival, and the Memphis Vegan Festival will keep the spirit high throughout the month.
In essence, the city of Memphis appears to be jam-packed with events that will bring the community together, offer residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy the city in their own way, all the while basking in the warmth and vitality of the spring season.
