Sponsor Our ArticlesMemphis is experiencing gloomy weather with overcast skies and occasional rain. Temperatures started around 64°F, with a low chance of rain later. The week promises a warm weekend but also potential thunderstorms and rain returns midweek. Safety precautions are advised due to possible severe weather.
Hey there, Memphis! If you’ve stepped outside this morning, you might have noticed it’s looking a bit gloomy with those cloudy skies and the occasional drizzle. As you head out the door, remember to grab a lightweight jacket – it’s a tad cool out there with temperatures kicking off around 64°F. But don’t let that rain dampen your spirits just yet because the weather is a bit unpredictable but not all bad!
Today, we’ll mostly be seeing overcast skies with some intermittent rain showers, especially in the morning hours. But the good news? The rain is expected to move on, leaving behind some clouds for the rest of the day. You can expect afternoon temperatures to hang around the low to mid-60s. The chance of rain is pretty low at about 20%, but a few isolated showers might pop up later in the day across West Tennessee.
Those wanting a breezy day are in for a treat, as the winds are forecasted to come from the southeast at 10 to 15 mph. So, it will give a little chill on your skin while you soak up the last of the wet weather today.
Now, let’s shift our focus to the weekend! Exciting news: a warm and pleasant weekend is right around the corner. Temperatures are set to rise well into the upper 50s to 60s, which is definitely above average for this time of year! If you’re planning any outdoor activities, it looks like you might just get lucky with some sunshine and comfortable temps.
As we roll into next week, the warm trend looks to continue. Monday might start off on the cooler side with highs around 48°F and lows around 33°F, but by Tuesday, we should see those temperatures bounce back up to around 57°F, with lovely mostly sunny skies to enjoy!
However, don’t get too comfortable just yet, because rain is likely to return during the latter part of the week, specifically late on Wednesday where there’s about a 30% chance of showers. By Thursday, the rain chances increase significantly to between 50-70%, setting us up for a wet finale to the week ahead.
As we look to the weekend, remember there may be some severe weather risks in the air. Anticipation is building for potential thunderstorms making their way through the Mid-South on Sunday afternoon into the evening. This could lead to heavy rain accumulations in some neighborhoods, with amounts possibly reaching nearly 2 inches.
While most areas north of Interstate 40 will likely stay in the chill of the 40s, don’t fret because North Mississippi might feel a bit warmer, possibly tickling the 60s! Just be aware that there’s a low risk of tornado activity in those areas, so it’s wise to take precaution.
And if you’re hoping for a little snow, there’s a chance that light snow showers might try to make an appearance late Sunday night into Monday morning, but don’t expect any significant accumulation. As Monday rolls in, road safety should be on your mind, especially on bridges and overpasses which may be slick from last night’s drizzle.
So, Memphis, as we navigate through this drizzly day and gear up for the warm weekend, keep an eye on the skies. Weather can be quirky, but here’s to hoping we all find some sunshine soon!
