Memphis Weather Update: What to Expect as Francine Stays Nearby

Hey there, Memphis! If you’ve been watching the skies lately, you might have noticed that our friend Francine has been hanging around a bit longer than we’d hoped. The remnants of this weather system are bringing us a mix of clouds and sporadic showers over the next few days. But don’t worry, we’ve already seen most of the heavy rain, so there’s a silver lining!

What’s Happening with Francine?

To give you a quick summary, those leftovers from Francine managed to push as far north as Jonesboro, but now they’re slowly making their way back down to the south and southeast. This whole transition won’t happen overnight, which means we’re stuck with cloudy skies and showers for a bit longer.

Weekend Weather Forecast

The good news is, while Friday brought a fair bit of rain, the weekend is looking to be a tad drier. We’re not expecting a total washout, but there will still be some scattered showers to watch out for. If you’ve got plans to hit up any local festivals or fairs, you’ll likely find more dry hours than rainy ones – fingers crossed!

What to Pack for Your Weekend Plans

If you do find yourself out and about, just be prepared for the occasional light shower. Most of these showers won’t last longer than about 30 minutes before they either fizzle out or drift on to the next town. So, perhaps bring an umbrella just in case but don’t let it ruin your fun!

Looking Ahead: Early Next Week

As we move into early next week, we can expect that Francine won’t be leaving us just yet. Showers may linger, but hold on tight because a cold front is set to roll in late Monday into Tuesday. This should help to finally send Francine packing and clear the skies for us.

What’s Coming After the Cold Front?

Once that cold front has done its magic, we can look forward to a return of drier and sunnier days. From Wednesday, September 18th, through Sunday the 22nd, it looks like we’ll enjoy some wonderful late summer weather! Afternoon highs will climb into the middle to upper 80s, and nighttime lows will sit comfortably in the upper 60s. Sounds perfect for those outdoor activities, doesn’t it?

Weekend Breakdown

  • Friday Night/Saturday Morning: Mainly cloudy with some scattered showers. Lows around the middle 60s.
  • Saturday: A bit cloudy with chances of showers. Highs in the middle to upper 70s. Not a complete washout, but you might want to keep that umbrella handy!
  • Saturday Night/Sunday Morning: Continued cloudiness with a chance of showers. Lows in the middle to upper 60s.
  • Sunday: Another cloudy day with a chance of showers around. Highs reaching the upper 70s to lower 80s.

In Summary

So, as we head into the weekend, it’s best to stay prepared for those brief showers, but overall, the weather isn’t looking too bad! Once we get through next week, it appears the weather is really going to warm up nicely. Enjoy your weekend, Memphis, and let’s hope to see more sun soon!
