Crime Shakes Midtown Memphis: Phone Store Robbed at Gunpoint

Memphis, TN — A typical day at Boost Mobile on North Cleveland Avenue turned horrifying when two suspects allegedly held up the store at gunpoint on Monday. The incident left employees shaken and raised concerns about safety in the community, making it the talk of the town.

According to reports from the Memphis Police Department, the drama began when a man and a woman walked into the store asking to check out an iPhone. As the employee dutifully walked back to retrieve the requested device, everything seemed normal. However, that quickly changed once the employee returned. In a shocking turn of events, the male suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded the employee hand over the phone.

But it didn’t stop there. The suspect’s demands escalated, ordering the terrified employee to the back room and specifically instructing him to lock himself in the bathroom. As if that wasn’t unsettling enough, the pair cleared out additional iPhones and other gear as they rummaged through valuable items in the store.

In a desperate bid for a comprehensive haul, the suspects also made off with the employee’s personal belongings. They left with a backpack that included an Android tablet, AirPods, and even a MacBook. The robbers didn’t just stop at grabbing goods; they helped themselves to cash from the register, transforming an ordinary day at work into a nightmare.

Once they had gathered their ill-gotten gains, both suspects bolted from the store on foot. Eyewitnesses later described the situation as chaotic but assured that they didn’t see anything out of the ordinary until the robbery unfolded. “People just don’t expect something like that to happen in our neighborhood,” one local resident expressed.

The good news in this dark tale came when investigators utilized technology to help track the stolen AirPods, leading police to the 3300 block of Hardin Avenue. Following this digital breadcrumb trail, authorities detained a male and female, who matched the description of the suspects from the robbery.

Upon searching the individuals, officers reclaimed several items reported stolen from the Boost Mobile store, bringing a sense of relief to the workers and local community members who initially felt shaken by the event.

Kendrian Hall, a 23-year-old woman, has been charged with Aggravated Robbery. Her bond is set at an eye-catching $100,000. Meanwhile, Mario Smith, a 35-year-old man, is also facing charges of Aggravated Robbery, though details regarding his bond were not immediately available.

The incident has sparked a renewed conversation about safety and crime prevention in Midtown Memphis. Residents and business owners alike have started voicing their opinions on the matter, highlighting the need for community policing, better surveillance, and the importance of reporting suspicious activity.

Many locals are now left wondering: how can we protect ourselves and our community from similar incidents in the future? It’s a scary world out there, and safety should never be taken for granted.

As police continue their investigation, they are calling on anyone with additional information about the robbery to step forward. Community involvement is seen as essential in solving not only this case but preventing future crimes as well. With a little luck and teamwork, the hope is that Midtown can regain a sense of security as quickly as possible.

The community is now on high alert, understanding that crime can sometimes feel like a relentless shadow. Yet, solidarity among neighborhood businesses and residents might be the key to restoring peace. “Let’s look out for each other,” says another resident, echoing the sentiments felt across the city. “After all, we’re all in this together.”

As always, the Memphis Police Department encourages everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior. Keeping the streets safe requires a united front from both law enforcement and community members. “We will not be intimidated,” one local owner declared, highlighting a strong sense of resilience amidst uncertainty.

At the end of the day, a robbery can shake the core of a community, but together, Memphis will find a way to come back stronger.
