It’s just an oversight; somebody let that certificate expire.”
The security warning was due to an expired SSL certificate—that’s short for Secure Sockets Layer. This certificate is crucial as it helps to verify a website’s authenticity and encrypts users’ network connections to keep information safe. According to Horton, “They just have to renew that. But the underlying functionality of the website—the security features—nothing that has changed.”
