Memphis– In a shocking occurrence, a woman allegedly refused to pay for a service she received and subsequently dragged a store employee with her car. Law enforcement officials have reported they are currently investigating the incident.
The incident took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Monday in a local store in the locality of Frayser, Memphis. According to officials, the woman arrived at the store intending to have her phone repaired, which was carried out without any apparent difficulties.
The event took a dramatic turn, however, when the suspect, having received her serviced phone, allegedly left the premises without paying for the repair work. The store employee apparently followed her outside to the parking lot in a bid to retrieve the phone or demand payment.
What happened next is what has left the community in shock. The lady reportedly rolled up her car window trapping the employee’s arm and drove off, dragging the employee for some distance. Reports suggest that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital due to the injuries inflicted during the incident.
The local Memphis Police Department is now appealing for help from the public in identifying the alleged suspect involved in the assault. They have described the assailant’s vehicle as being a black Buick Lesabre. Residents are being urged to contact local authorities with any information connected to the incident.
The dramatic and violent nature of the incident has raised concerns over safety within the community. This incident, though shocking in its intensity, adds to a worrying trend of increased aggression within disputes of business transactions. Community leaders are calling for a combination of greater vigilance and sterner punitive measures for violent actions.
Aside from personal safety, there are further implications related to this incident, especially for local businesses. Ensuring safety and security during ‘standard’ business transactions is a fundamental requirement for all commercial entities. Business owners are now expressing concerns on the need to further augment the security protocols for their employees.
While police continue with their investigations, residents, and especially business owners and their employees are being advised to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activities immediately.
