Teenage Duo Leads Police on Wild Chase in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Saturday afternoon turned chaotic when two teenagers decided to go joyriding in a stolen vehicle, prompting a high-speed police chase through the Hickory Hill neighborhood. According to the Memphis Police Department, the adventure began when an 18-year-old and a 13-year-old were caught red-handed in a car that had been reported stolen just the day before.

Oh No, Not Another Carjacking!

It all began on November 9, when police received a report about a carjacking in the 2800 block of Eaglewood Drive. The victim reported that their trusty Toyota Corolla was taken right out of their hands. Unfortunately, this case is just one of several that have left residents on edge.

Chase Begins!

The following day, officers spotted the stolen vehicle driving around the busy area of Hickory Hill Road and Ridgeway Boulevard. It was a classic case of “you can run, but you can’t hide” as police attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver refused to pull over, sending officers into action. The scene escalated quickly as the driver recklessly sped away, ignoring traffic laws and endangering others on the busy streets.

The Chase is On!

With flashing lights and sirens blaring, it turned into a full-fledged police chase. According to reports, the reckless driving led to a dramatic end as the stolen vehicle crashed and became disabled in the 5900 block of Fox Ridge Drive. One suspect was quickly taken into custody from the passenger seat – the young 13-year-old who seems to be a trendsetter in the wrong way, now facing charges of theft and evading arrest.

But Wait, There’s More!

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Keith Jackson, didn’t make it easy on the police. After a short foot chase, authorities caught up with him and took him into custody. It turns out Jackson had a laundry list of previous charges, including a warrant for his arrest issued by the Violent Crime Unit just days before.

Charges Pile Up!

Jackson is now facing some serious consequences. He’s been charged with aggravated robbery, evading arrest on foot, reckless driving, theft of property valued between $2,500 and $10,000, carjacking, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Whew! That’s quite the rap sheet for someone just starting out in life. His bond was initially set at a whopping $500,000, but there seems to be some confusion with jail logs listing it as just $50,000. It’s definitely a case that will keep everyone watching closely.

A Cautionary Tale

The entire incident has sparked discussions in the community about youth crime and safety. It’s a reminder to all of us about the challenges law enforcement faces and the importance of mentoring our younger generation. While these two may have thought they were having a little fun, their actions could lead to some serious problems.

What’s Next?

As for Jackson and his young accomplice, the future looks uncertain. With the judicial system now involved, it remains to be seen how this will all unfold. Let’s hope this serves as a wake-up call for our youth to think twice before hopping into a life of crime, because the consequences are very real and affecting families and neighborhoods all around.

Stay tuned, Memphis! We’ll keep you updated on any developments in this wild chase saga!
